What I'm Cooking This September 🍎

Hi friends,

The first cool mornings always change the way I cook.

Suddenly I'm reaching for crisp apples, roasting vegetables again, and planning dinners that feel just a little cozier. September is one of my favorite months in the kitchen because it brings the best of both seasons—late summer produce is still hanging on while fall flavors begin making their way back to the table.

If you're wondering what's on my menu this month, these are the recipes I'm reaching for first.

Ultimate Fall Honeycrisp Apple Salad — When Honeycrisp apples start showing up at the farmers' market, this is one of the first recipes I make. Crisp apples, tangy blue cheese, maple-candied pecans, and fresh greens are tossed in a homemade apple cider vinaigrette for a salad that's equal parts fresh and cozy.

Pork Tenderloin with Apples and Onions — This is one of those dinners I look forward to making every fall. Tender pork, sweet caramelized apples, and savory onions come together in one pan for a meal that feels cozy without requiring a lot of effort. It's the kind of recipe that fills the kitchen with the best smells of the season.

Complete the Menu

Roasted Carnival Squash with Maple Ginger Glaze — If you've never cooked with carnival squash before, this is the recipe I'd recommend starting with. Its sweet, buttery flavor and colorful skin make it one of the prettiest vegetables of the season, and a simple maple ginger glaze is all it needs.

🍁 Let the Season Lead

One of the easiest ways to build a memorable meal is to start with what's naturally in season. Crisp apples, winter squash, fresh herbs, and hearty greens already complement one another, so you don't need complicated recipes or long ingredient lists. Choose great seasonal ingredients, let each one shine, and the menu practically comes together on its own.

If one of these recipes makes it to your table, I'd love to hear about it! Leave a ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ rating and a quick comment on the recipe—it helps more readers discover Maplevine Kitchen, and it's one of the best ways you can support my work.

Happy cooking!

Stay tuned and be sure to follow me for more simple seasonal recipes with a little bit of fancy!

September 23, 2026 Hi friends, When I worked in Italian restaurants, I assumed the biggest lessons would be the complicated techniques. Instead, I discovered that the meals people remembered most often came down to a handful of thoughtful details—a properly heated pan, fresh herbs added at the right moment, a squeeze of lemon just before serving, or choosing ingredients that were simply at their best. Those little touches have stayed with me over the years, and they're still the ideas I come...

September 9, 2026 Hi friends, September might be my favorite month at the farmers' market. One minute you're filling your bag with sweet corn, zucchini, and colorful peppers, and the next you're spotting the first signs of fall around every corner. I love that little overlap between seasons, so instead of rushing into pumpkin everything, I'm making the most of summer's final encore while it's still here. If I were shopping this week, these are the ingredients I'd be bringing home. 🌽 Sweet...
